Reservoir of tranquility
A mutually beneficial, harmonious interrelation between the buildings, landscape and users characterises the open planning concept of the oldest and largest military hospital, more than 60 years old and more than 18 ha in size. The existing building‘s division into small differentiated sections is replaced by a spacious, calm overall picture. The well-structured, aesthetic form provides a place for recreation and (re)convalescence, as well as orientation and individual open spaces within a harmonious whole.
Individual trees and groups of trees, some of them multi-stem, some of which have grown freely, will be arranged on the site according to a particular principle. Together with the open lawns, they form the basic structure of the park. Loosely arranged plantings of park trees playfully surround the old and newly planned building, embedding it in a green frame.
Open „corridors“, completely free of trees, ensure a view deep into the Westerwald and the Taunaus and at the same time enable the orientation within the entire site and beyond.
