Konzept

The external space concept rigorously supports the architecture’s urban design and spatial concepts. The close interconnection of interior and exterior spaces “creates the impression of an open learning landscape with a glass curtain”. A place is created that opens up to the district, understands school as a learning and living space and is distinguished by its highly welcoming atmosphere.

The district campus, with its open and innovative concept, also integrates the community school. The central feature of the campus is the way the school generously opens to its surroundings in order to dispel anxiety about entering unknown territory, promote cooperation and ensure the best attainable networking. These conceptual approaches are found in the architecture and open space design in the form of a central axis that follows the architectural principle of varyingly opening up and constricting spaces. Attractive pedestrian approaches, a central connecting plaza at the main entrance, and park-like compositions characterise the inviting community character of the site.
With the assistance of sports scientists and the involvement of the general public, the district campus will be complemented by the development of an innovative and sustainable concept for a “ParkSport” field on the adjoining plot. By opening up and connecting public space and the school, the social issue of education takes centre stage, and school becomes a lively place of exchange and urban development within the district.
